System Requirements

Microsoft Windows XP, 2000 , 2003
Intel Pentium III 800MHz or compatible
128 MB RAM (recommended minimum)
512 MB RAM (recommended)

Maintenance Requirements

A MDSS system administrator should be appointed in your organization. His or her main task is user accounts management and data backup. It is not a heavy task, so you need only a part-timer.

Generally, it isn't necessary to appoint a professional computer technician as the administrator. But if you use MS SQL Server, which is not the default choice, to store MDSS system data. A professional computer technician who is familiar with MS SQL Server is needed.

Installation

1. Beginning

Click "Install Server Program" to begin installation process.

2. License Agreement

You must agree with Software License Agreement to continue installation process.

3. Decide installation Folder

In this step, you will decide the location the software will be installed at. The default location is 'c:\Program Files\MDSS_Server'. If you want to install the software at another location, click 'Change' button.

4.Decide shortcut folder

The shortcut folder will appears in Windows Start Menu.

5. Install Java Runtime Environment (jre)

In the installation process, you will see a screen for installing jre. If you aren't familiar with jre, just click 'Next' button. If jre setup program find repeated jre, it will show reminding message.

Install Key Database for MS SQL Server

Installation program of Key Database for MS SQL Serve is not included in MDSS installation package. You can order it from Toplen.

If there are more than 1000 users in your MDSS system, or you have professional requirements about data backup and can employ engineer who is familiar with MS SQL Server, you can consider Key Database for MS SQL Server .

Startup

The first startup may be time-consuming because of server initialization. After startup, you can see MDSS Server manual by click "Help" button in main window.
